Artistic Director & Creator
Since graduating from Warwick University in Theatre & performance, Rebecca has been working professionally as a Theatre Director in commercial theatre. Since 2005 she has directed over 60 full-scale productions, including 5 previous versions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The shows have been on National and International tours to mid-scale theatres as well as smaller studio spaces. She is a specialist in Classical Theatre & Period Dramas and has a string of 4 & 5-star reviews for these shows in the national & local press. Her 2011 production of Sense & Sensibility was used by the BBC in the documentary, The Many Lovers of Austen. In 2016, she directed the millennial celebrations for Great Tangley Manor, using projection mapping to tell the story of the house, along with live musicians, 24 actors, recorded sound, and live narration from Michael Burke. Rebecca was inspired by projection after seeing an art installation at Quad in 2016. Since then she has dedicated her time to researching technology and refining a magical vision for a ground-breaking production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Darius is the Creative Producer at Quad Arts Centre, Derby. He specialises in Digital Media Film Making & Video Production Interactive Art Augmented reality (AR). He is also an experienced Digital Artist and animator. He is a full-time employee of the Quad: tech team. TECH:SQUAD are a team of creatives, artists, designers and digital technicians specialising in technical design and delivery, based at the Derby QUAD visual arts centre. They are dedicated to researching, developing and utilising emerging technologies such as augmented reality, virtual reality and projection mapping to facilitate exhibitions and installations, creating immersive events and multi-sensory experiences that inspire audiences – from presentations to outdoor spectaculars. TECH:SQUAD lead artist Darius Powell, has overseen the digital development of shows for theatrical organisations across the East-Midlands including 1623 Theatre Company's "Lear/Cordelia", Edward Day's "Hamlet 64", The Lost Boys' "A Christmas Carol" and Louise White's "The Dead Sea". Darius brings over 15 years experience working as a Digital artist across a wide range of digital artforms.
Jenni joule is a freelance Props maker, artist and jewellery maker. Having studied Creative Arts at Bath Spa University, she quickly found her roots in theatre and professional props making. Since finishing her degree in 2011 she has worked with a range of different theatre companies. Through this time she has worked closely with clients, directors and designers for theatre and TV. As a props maker, Jenni specialises in large scale animal heads, plastazote fabrication and puppets as well as working on her own small business of hand made artisan silver jewellery under the name of 'Cicadaseed Jewellery'. Having worked in Europe, Jenni has been involved in different projects from festival décor to illustration and continues to take on commissions and collaborations from her home studio.
Amy trained at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Amy has been working as a costume maker, costume supervisor, wardrobe manager and costume designer for over 10 years. Her experience ranges from regional theatre, pantomime, small and large scale theatre projects and touring, including many years with the largest educational theatre company in Europe, White Horse, and multiple seasons with ENO (English National Opera) at the London Coliseum.
Dramaturg & Cultural Advisor
Hayley Davis is a Writer / Performer whose work tackles common issues with dark humour. Her recent work includes her solo show "5 Years" which was performed at both the Camden and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals. Her short film "Get out Clause" won the award for "Best Local Film" at the Birmingham Film Festival.
Ruth is a British Chinese experimental composer for film, stage and theatre, and a classically trained pianist and multi-instrumental performer. She loves working on both classical, contemporary and electronic compositions. Her work has been performed internationally including commissions from the Royal Shakespeare Company, Hong Kong Arts Festival, Tête-à-Tête Opera Festival, British Film Institute, Chinese Arts Space, Shakespeare Festival – Stratford, Canada and Pittsburgh Opera Festival.
